Sharing our knowledge across the Tasman: Shane Hona receives the Wendy Mead Professional Development Award

Biosecurity officer at Bay of Plenty Regional Council Shane Hona has been awarded a Wendy Mead Professional Development Award to help him to attend the 22nd Australasian Weeds Conference in Adelaide 25-29 September. Shane will be presenting a paper at the conference titled ‘A regional perspective on NZ’s National Collective funding model for Biocontrol of weeds research’. The purpose of the award is to provide a member of the NZBI with funds to assist with travel expenses where that member is undertaking travel to further their knowledge in the field of biosecurity. The Award is named in honour of former Institute Executive Committee member and National Secretary Wendy Mead who died in 2019.
