NETS2026: Australasian Weeds Conference 2026

Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand
23 Aug – 27 August 2026

This year, the NZBI National Education and Training Seminar (NETS) Conference 2026 will be held in partnership with the Council of Australasian Weed Societies and the New Zealand Plant Protection Society (NZPPS). In recognition of this collaboration, the event is being jointly promoted as the Australasian Weeds Conference (AWC) 2026. This cross‑Tasman gathering is a key forum for practitioners, researchers, policy makers, and land managers involved in weed research, biosecurity, and environmental management across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

The conference theme for 2026 is Collaboration Across Borders: Sharing knowledge for effective weed management.

For more information, please visit the official conference website: https://awc26.com/en-AU

The conference will take place at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, 188 Oxford Terrace, Christchurch. The programme begins with a welcome function from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Sunday, 23 August, and concludes on Thursday, 27 August.

Abstract submissions are now open and will close on Friday, 6 March 2026. While ‘weeds’ is in the conference title, this conference is not solely about weed management; there will be concurrent sessions on other biosecurity topics. Therefore, we strongly encourage abstracts from across the whole biosecurity sector.
