President's Welcome
Welcome to the website of the New Zealand Biosecurity Institute. Please take the time to make the most of the resources available and find out more about the NZBI.
If you are a member then our members section has up-to-date contact details, the latest editions of PROTECT magazine and the NZBI web forum. The forum allows you to partake in on-line discussions and have your say on important biosecurity related matters.
The NZBI is an incorporated society that exists to advance the cause of biosecurity in New Zealand. Our mission is ‘Working together to protect New Zealand from the adverse impacts of invasive species’. We aim to raise biosecurity issues and encourage the development and application of best practice in biosecurity, we also connect people and organisations to share knowledge and for our members we fund and create opportunities for professional development. We have branches across New Zealand that hold local events and we also have an annual National Education and Training Seminar (NETS). NETS is held in a different location each year and has top national and international speakers from across the spectrum of biosecurity.
The ‘real’ institute is the 400 or so members that are studying, working, or volunteering their time to protect New Zealand from further change associated with invasive exotic species. I encourage all that have a real interest in making a positive contribution to protecting New Zealand to contact a local branch rep.
